In recent news, the University of Michigan has opened the first prostate cancer risk clinic in the nation. The clinic aims to monitor and identify the risk of prostate in cancer in men with genetic predisposition to the disease through increased screening methods and genetic testing. This new center comes as a positive step forward in the battle against prostate cancer. The more the focus is shifted to early diagnosis of prostate cancer, the likelihood of the disease presenting at a much more treatable stage is higher. With proper identification, individuals diagnosed early diagnosis have greater treatment options, including minimally invasive Cesium-131 brachytherapy.
