Dave Ricordati was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 56.
“I wanted the best quality of life going forward. Of course I wanted to be alive, but when looking at my options I saw the cure rate was about the same for each, but after looking at the quality of life of each treatment I knew I would be best treated with seed implants over any other procedure.”
Like many men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, Dave knew very little about the prostate, what his diagnosis would entail, and most importantly, his options for treatment.
Due to his experience, with his treatment behind him and PSA levels normalized, he takes every chance he can get to talk to men who have been newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. “I think that is what I can do best for men: let them know my experience,” says Dave. “Be informed, have the facts, and then they can make their own decision.”
Five years later and side effect free, Dave enjoys all of the physical activity that his life entails. From being a member of an indoor hockey league to moving in and out of his car 50-60 times a day selling real estate- he is living an active life, indeed.
