Dr. John Sylvester has been a pioneer in prostate cancer brachytherapy for over 30 years. He has performed over 6,000 prostate brachytherapy procedures to date. Dr. Sylvester has published several written works on prostate brachytherapy and continues to contribute to the field by developing technical improvements to the procedure.
On this month’s episode, Dr. Sylvester is joined by Dr. Bradley Prestidge and Dr. Dave Marshall, both radiation oncologists who have been performing brachytherapy for several decades. They discuss the importance of increasing the number of physicians who practice brachytherapy worldwide, the imminent need for better resources in education for the procedure and why some institutions are reluctant to teach brachytherapy. The doctors also share their own experiences performing the procedure.
